What’s wrong with Rudi?
November 11, 2012
As my mum used to say, “you could park a bus on that bottom lip!”
Wedding days can be pretty stressful but I was surprised to see Rudi looking so down as he paced in and out of the church. I first met him on his mum and dad’s pre-wedding shoot. Back then he was full of beans and quite the star of the show.
“You ok mate?” I asked, but Rudi didn’t want to talk!
Anticipation is an important part of wedding photography. Sometimes you have just a few seconds to foresee what’s about to happen while other times you get a little longer. As I left Rudi to his own devices, the grey cloud over his head at odds with the sun appearing outside the church in Mytholmroyd, I formed a good idea about the cause of his consternation and knew that if I was right, a photographic opportunity was about to unfold.
Sure enough, as I started capturing images of Nicola getting out of the car I spotted Rudi racing towards his mum. I quickly stepped back, zooming a little wider and was able to capture one of my favourite moments of the day.
And Rudi was soon heading back into the church, back to his old self.
